PRRD launches survey to gain feedback ahead of new zoning bylaw
The Peace River Regional District is collecting input from residents throughout the spring as it prepares a new zoning bylaw.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Staff members with the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) are collecting feedback from residents as they work to create a new zoning bylaw.
In 2023, the board directed staff members to create a ‘regional zoning bylaw’ to replace the five current zoning bylaws and simplify PRRD regulations.
According to a press release from the district, a new survey has been launched to collect input from residents and stakeholders on issues like accessory buildings, home-based businesses and the regulations surrounding secondary and detached suites.
“We’re creating a unified regional zoning bylaw that reflects the needs and priorities of our communities and simplifies regulations,” said board chair Leonard Hiebert. “Public input is crucial to shape a new bylaw that will work for everyone in our region.”
The survey will be available from March 20th until May 30th. Residents can also pick up paper copies of the survey to fill out at both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek PRRD offices.
In-person engagement events for residents to share their thoughts are also planned for the fall of 2025, but no further details have been released.
