Former Fort St. John Huskies defenceman Brandon Modde left quite an impact in his debut with the Marian University Sabres on Sunday evening in Wisconsin.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Former Fort St. John Huskies defenceman Brandon Modde left quite an impact in his debut with the Marian University Sabres on Sunday evening in Wisconsin.
He scored his first goal of the year as his team blanked the St. Olaf Oles of Northfield, Minnesota, by a score of 4-0.
On senior night, the freshman’s goal midway through the third period put his team up 3-0, assisted by senior teammates Daunte Faunter and Jaymes Knee.
His goal netted him the game’s third star before a reported home crowd of 287, which included Modde’s grandparents in attendance.
Modde played 106 regular season games with his hometown Huskies before making the trip down south, netting 40 goals and 144 assists for 184 total points. Â
The 22-year-old was also a two-time recipient of the North West Junior Hockey League’s defenceman of the year.Â
Having gone 9-17-1 in 2023-24, the Sabres are now 2-0-0 to start the new season.Â
