The 1980s are the theme for Fort Nelson ladies’ golf tournament
While the tournament at the nine-hole course is an annual event, its organizer says it rarely has a theme like 2026.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Get prepared to jump in your DeLorean and take a trip back to the 1980’s – sort of – at Fort Nelson’s Poplar Hills Golf course to begin July.
The nine-hole, 2,500-plus yard course will host its 45th annual ladies’ best-ball tournament, complete with a ‘back to the 1980’s’ theme over two days beginning on Saturday, July 4th.
Participants are encouraged to dress up in their best themed threads to capture the spirit of the decade, according to Aymee Belfour.
Belfour is the president of the course’s ladies league and is still relatively new to golf, having taken up the sport only five years ago.
“I am just trying to bring more fun back into it,” explained Belfour. “ [To] get a new generation of kids coming into golf.”
“That has been my goal and [to] just make it fun. [I have] been learning as I go.”
While Poplar Hills has held annual ladies’ tournaments, a theme has not been part of the itinerary on a regular basis, said Belfour.
