The Memorial and Kin arenas in Dawson Creek will be re-opening next Tuesday, October 13th.

“They’re making ice as we speak at the arenas,” said Mayor of Dawson Creek Dale Bumstead.

Ammonia contamination of the brine mixtures in ice cooling systems caused the arenas to close last November, with no word on their reopening until August 21st of this year. The Mayor said he is happy with how the replacements of these systems went.

“We’re honestly so pleased with the fact that we’re ahead of schedule,” Bumstead continued. “We were anticipating we wouldn’t be open until the end of October/beginning of November.”

There are plans to have an opening day skate for the public on Sunday, October 18th.
