Murder suspect John Keyler is set to return to court in February 2022, according to Dan McLaughlin, with the BC Prosecution Service.
Keyler will return to Fort St. John Supreme Court for a voir dire, a mini-hearing within a trial where the judge considers the admissibility of evidence.
Pre-trial proceedings took place this summer and continued last month. McLaughlin says the trial dates will most likely be in October 2022 and have not been finalized yet.
Keyler was arrested at the end of July 2020 after a two-week investigation into the disappearance of Sarah Foord from her home in Taylor. RCMP said Foord’s remains were found in a remote location 75 kilometres north of Fort St. John.
Keyler is charged with second-degree murder and interfering with human remains. He remains in custody and has not been found guilty of the charges.
A preliminary inquiry earlier this year found there was sufficient evidence to try for a conviction.
