PRRD supports Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association NDIT grant application

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) board is supporting the Bear Mountain Nordic Ski Association’s Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) grant application. 

At the July 23 regular board meeting, the PRRD approved the letter of support for the association’s application to NDIT’s Marketing Initiative Program Fund. 

In a letter to the board, the association said this project will develop a professional brand identity, modernize the association’s website, create high-quality photography and video, produce print and digital marketing materials and implement regional advertising campaigns, targeting northeast B.C. and northwest Alberta. 

In addition, the letter said the association expects outcomes to include a 20 per cent increase in memberships and trail pass revenues and 50 per cent growth in website traffic and social media reach. 

The PRRD letter said through the application, the association will be able to receive a grant of up to $6,000 to launch its first comprehensive destination marketing campaign. 

This project will support regional economic development by increasing winter visitation and strengthening Dawson Creek’s reputation as a winter sports destination. 

In addition, it will generate revenue for local businesses and build partnerships with tourism organizations. 

“At the same time promoting memberships, youth programming, events and future Nordic ski competitions for the benefit of the peace region, including northeast B.C. and northwest Alberta,” the letter said.
