Northern Rockies RCMP issue 45 violation tickets during joint enforcement operations

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Northern Rockies RCMP, along with Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) and the B.C. Conservation Officer Service joined forces to conduct enforcement initiatives. 

According to Northern Rockies RCMP, officers conducted “a coordinated enforcement initiative” from July 20 to 22 and focused on “public safety and environmental concerns,” including:

• Prohibited vehicle modifications and mechanical deficiencies
• Compliance in commercial and passenger vehicles
• Regulations around fishing
• Invasive aquatic specifics 
• Enforcement for off-road vehicles

Northern Rockies police say 45 violation tickets were issued during the operation, along with 22 vehicle inspections and five vehicles deemed unsafe and removed from the road. 

“These results show why proactive enforcement matters,” police said. “Unsafe vehicles and illegal modifications can place drivers, passengers and everyone else on the road at risk.”

According to police, regulations around fishing, invasive species and off-road vehicles are “just as important because they protect local waterways, wildlife and recreational areas.”
