Northern Trails Historical Society hosting doors-open celebration in northeast B.C. 

TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. — The Northern Trails Historical Society will be hosting its third annual Doors Open Celebration at sites in northeast B.C.

The Northern Trails Historical Society said it is excited to welcome residents and visitors to its third annual Doors Open Celebration on July 25.

Guests will enjoy free admission at participating sites in Bear Flat, Hudson’s Hope and Tumbler Ridge.

“Doors Open celebrates the built heritage of northeastern British Columbia by encouraging participants to visit historic buildings, museums and tourism attractions throughout the region free of charge,” the society said in a press release.  

According to the society, Doors Open has grown continuously and brings together groups, including museums and businesses, as well as community partners, to showcase the “rich history and culture that define the Peace region.” 

Visitors will be able to explore museums and heritage sites while also visiting interpretive centres and “one-of-a-kind attractions.” 

Locations participating in this year’s Doors Open include:

• Bear Flat Museum
• Hudson’s Hope Museum
• Dinosaur Discovery Gallery
• Conuma Coal Mine Tour 
• W. A. C Bennett Dam Visitor Centre
• Tumbler Ridge Community Centre
• Tumbler Ridge Geocentre

“Whether you’re a lifelong resident or visiting Northeastern British Columbia for the first time, Doors Open provides a unique opportunity to experience the communities, stories and historic places that have shaped the region,” the society said.

The society thanks participating museums, organizations, businesses, volunteers and community partners whose continued support makes Doors Open a “growing regional success.”
