District of Taylor to host election candidate workshop

TAYLOR, B.C. — The District of Taylor is hosting an election candidate workshop for prospective candidates for the upcoming municipal election. 

According to a Facebook post on the district’s page on July 21, the workshop has been scheduled for Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Council Chambers, located on 100A Street. 

The upcoming 2026 General Local Election will be held on Oct. 17, 2026. 

The post said this workshop will give potential candidates an insight into what it means to be a member of the council. 

In addition, snacks and coffee will be provided for attendees. 

While the pre-campaign period began on July 20, the nomination period for the upcoming elections runs from Sept. 1 to 11. 

As per Election BC, the general election will have individuals from across the province running for mayoral and municipal councillor positions, regional district positions, school board trustee positions, park board positions, local community commission positions and Island Trust. 

During the pre-campaign period, election advertisements may be issued to the public, provided they include an authorized statement with “appropriate contact information.” 

The campaign period will run from Sept. 17 to voting day, Oct. 17.
