City launches survey as it updates its Parks and Recreation Plan
The city has launched a survey to gauge community feedback as it updates its Parks and Recreation Plan.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John is seeking the community’s feedback on recreation facilities, parks, trails and on its recreation priorities.
According to a news update on the city’s website, the city is updating its Parks and Recreation Plan and has launched a survey to gauge the community’s opinion.
The Plan, the city said, will help guide future decisions on parks, trails, playgrounds, recreation facilities, sports fields and other outdoor spaces in the community.

The update said, “We’ve heard a lot from residents through previous engagement initiatives, including the Aquatics Facility Project and now we’re asking the community to help confirm which recreation priorities matter most for the future.”
According to the city’s Let’s Talk page for the Parks and Recreation Plan, the city wants to ensure the community’s feedback is incorporated into the plan.
This update will help the city confirm what is working well, what needs to improve and what matters to the community.
The Parks and Recreation plan was last updated in 2023 and the city said that since then, it has started or completed several projects, including upgrades to Kin Park, Surerus Park and the Pomeroy Sports Centre.

The city will conduct community engagement sessions in July and September to learn more about the community’s priorities. The draft of the Parks and Recreation Plan will be prepared between August and October and the final plan update will be released in late 2026.
The city is asking the community to complete the survey by July 27, 2026.
