The “preliminary session” will take place ahead of the pre-campaign period, that begins on July 20.
The one-hour session will cover the roles and responsibilities of both the mayor and council, how local government operates, time commitment, remuneration and the election and nomination process.
It will also touch on key election dates, resources available to candidates and a question-and-answer session.
If there is enough interest, the district will offer additional sessions in August before the nomination period begins on September 1 at 9 a.m.
