FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John’s Outdoor Summer Walking Challenge this year is encouraging residents to get out and enjoy the trails.

According to a post on the city’s website, the challenge started on July 1 and continues until August 31.

The city’s communications manager, Ryan Harvey, said the city has been organizing the challenge for the past several years.

He said, “It is just an opportunity to encourage people to get out, enjoy the trails and their community with nice weather and an opportunity to win some prizes.”

Prizes will be awarded for categories including the most time spent walking and the greatest distance covered.

“Residents can just fill out the tracking sheet and return it to the visitor centre,” Harvey said.

“Once they spend all summer tracking their walking, they need to submit it by September 4 and the winners will be announced shortly after.”

People interested in participating in the challenge can pick up a form at the Fort St. John Visitor Centre, inside the Pomeroy Sports Centre, located at 96 St.

A printable tracking sheet is also available on the city’s website.
