FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek provincial courts between June 15th and June 19th.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, June 15th
Harold Joseph Thompson (born 1996)
Thompson was found guilty of theft worth $5,000 or under on July 16th, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed jail-time served sentence, which means the time Thompson served in jail awaiting sentencing was counted towards their sentence.
They were also found guilty of driving while prohibited or with a suspended licence on June 17th, 2025, in Fort St. John.
Thompson was given a jail-time served sentence, a driving prohibition for one year and was asked to pay a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping crime victims.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, June 16th
Kyle Andrew Sylvester Gaynor (born 1990)
Gaynor was found guilty of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer on November 29th, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a suspended sentence, which means the accused is given conditions to follow, a probation order for five months and a victim surcharge of $100.
William Victor Earl Larocque (born 1993)
Larocque was found guilty of driving with a suspended licence and willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer on August 21st, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,” for 21 days, were fined $500 and must pay $75 as a victim surcharge.
Braden Vetter (born 1998)
Vetter was found guilty of committing an indecent act in a public place on August 22nd, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a conditional discharge sentence, which means the record won’t show a conviction if Vetter meets the conditions set by the judge, and a 12-month probation order.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, June 17th
Matthew John Ryan Sweder (born 1986)
Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Sweder for an incident on December 30th, 2024, in Baldonnel.
Sweder was issued a $500 recognizance for 12 months after the allegation. If Sweder fails to comply with the court’s conditions, they must pay $500.
They were also subjected to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property or assets ‘tained’ by crime.
Kayla Breeze Trudeau (born 1997)
Trudeau was found guilty of robbery, mischief worth $5,000 or under and assaulting a peace officer on June 19th, 2025, in Fort St. John.
They were handed a conditional sentence of 774 days, a 12-month probation order, a 10-year firearms prohibition, a primary DNA order, and an order to report for sample collection.
Trudeau was also found guilty of possessing stolen property worth over $5,000 and breaching a release order on June 19th, 2025 and July 11th, 2025, in Fort St. John.
They were handed a jail time served sentence.
In another file number, Trudeau was found guilty of two counts of assault and theft worth $5,000 or under on August 22nd, 2025, in Fort St. John.
They were handed a jail time served sentence.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, June 18th
Katelynn Irene Eftodie (born 1991)
Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Eftodie for an incident on July 6th, 2024, in Dawson Creek.
They were issued a $50 recognizance for 12 months after the allegation. If Eftodie fails to comply with the court’s conditions, they must pay $50.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, June 19th
Travis Jay Tarry (born 1990)
Tarry was found guilty of uttering threats on July 26th, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a jail-time-served sentence and were subject to forfeiture.
Tarry was also found guilty of breaching a release order on April 1st, 2026, in Dawson Creek.
They were sentenced to 10 days in jail, handed a 12-month probation order and were subject to forfeiture.
Tarry was also found guilty of breaching an undertaking on October 31st, 2025, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a jail-time-served sentence and were subject to forfeiture.
Tarry was found guilty of assault with a weapon and breaching an undertaking on March 6th, 2026, in Dawson Creek.
They were handed a jail-time-served sentence, and a primary DNA order was made.
