Improvements to roadways and sewer projects underway in Fort St. John
A number of capital projects are currently underway in Fort St. John, including road and sewer upgrades.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Numerous capital projects aimed at improving or upgrading areas across Fort St. John are currently underway.
According to the city’s capital projects page, 11 projects have been designated as “capital projects,” which the city describes as long-term investments in infrastructure, facilities and services that support daily life.
Of the 11 projects, 10 are labelled under the roads and related infrastructure category, while one is under the water and sewer category.
Roads and Related Infrastructure:
With a $2 million budget funded by the Peace River Agreement (PRA) and Water and Sewer Reserves, 101st Avenue will undergo rebuilding from 104th to 106th Street.
The project began in spring 2026 and is currently in the pre-construction stage. The expected completion date is fall 2026.

Rebuilding of 102nd Street from 109th to 111th Avenue began in spring 2026.
The $2.3 million project budget was funded by the PRA and the Water and Sewer Reserves.
The project is currently under construction and is scheduled to be finished by summer 2026.
Beginning in spring 2026, the city will be conducting a pair of projects to replace and install new sanitation lines.
A new sanitary sewer line will be installed in the laneways between 85th and 87th Avenue and 90th and 91st Street, near Mathews Park, while the current line on 112th Street will be replaced.
The $1.2 million project is in the pre-construction phase and is expected to be finalized in the fall of 2026.
Bouffioux Coulee – Lower Bank Replacement:
The current gabion basket armouring at the sewage pipe will be removed to protect the city’s sanitation infrastructure due to stormwater flow in Bouffioux Creek. The existing armouring will be replaced with upgraded armouring.
Gabion baskets are rectangular containers made of galvanized steel, woven wire mesh, or welded wire mesh.
The project is in the ‘design and permitting’ stage, according to the city’s website and is set to be completed in fall 2026.
According to the city’s website, the project is entirely funded by the BC Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, the Disaster Risk Reduction – Climate Adaptation Fund and the BC Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
A $3.75 million project, funded by the PRA and Water and Sewer Reserves, is currently under construction and scheduled to conclude in fall 2026.
According to the City of Fort St. John, the project will rebuild Peace River Road from 110th to 112th Avenue, including new sidewalks, streetlights and a storm sewer.
The project will also include replacing the current Asbestos water main.
Water and Sewer:
106th Street water reservoir replacement:
Construction on a new water reservoir near the current reservoir on 106th Street debuted in spring 2026 and is expected to be completed in Spring 2027.
The $8.5 million budget is funded by the Growing Communities Fund and Water Reserves.
The City of Fort St. John council approved a contract for just under $8 million to Chandos Construction to install a new water tank in December 2025.
Council had previously approved the project in September of the same year.
Other projects include rebuilding sections of 104th Street and replacing an existing asbestos concrete water main; rebuilding 99th Avenue between 98th and 100th Streets; a road overlay program throughout the community; major sidewalk improvements; and installing streetlights along 99th and 92nd Avenues.
