Power outages in Peace region to affect more than 500 customers

BC Hydro planned power outages to affect more than 500 customers in Chetwynd, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Planned power outages in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd are set to affect more than 500 customers this month. 

According to BC Hydro’s outages list, 589 customers will be affected by the following outages:

  • Chetwynd on May 17th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 19 customers. 
  • Dawson Creek on May 15th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., nine customers.
  • Dawson Creek on May 21st from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., seven customers.
  • Fort St. John on May 14th from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., 506 customers. 
  • Fort St. John on May 24th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 45 customers. 
  • Fort St. John on May 24th from 12:30 p.m. 2.30 p.m., less than five customers.

In Chetwynd, the areas impacted on May 17th are around 44A Avenue, North West Baldy Way, and Hillside Avenue

BC Hydro customers in Dawson Creek who will be affected by the outages on May 15th are around 226th Road, Doe River/Rolla and on May 21st are around Dokkeen Road, 213th Road, 213rd Road and 226th Road. 

In Fort St. John, the power outages on May 14th have been planned for areas around 81st Street, 100th Avenue, 101st Avenue, 94th Avenue, 95th Avenue, 96th Avenue, 97th Avenue, 98th Avenue, 99th Avenue, 82nd Street, 84th Street, 86th Street, 81st Street, 99th Avenue, 86th Street and 101st Avenue. 

On May 24th, customers who will be impacted are around 111th Street, 112nd Street, 115th Street, Alaska Road, Tahltan Road, Spruce Street and Finning Frontage Road.

The outages in Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John are due to planned work on BC Hydro equipment and pole replacement. 

Customers affected by the outages will be alerted through automated phone calls, emails and postcards, BC Hydro previously said.
