Karen Mason-Bennett, campus administrator for the Northern Lights College Fort St. John campus, said that it is important for the college to give back and be a good member of society.

“This is one of those places where we can get people involved, connect with the society beyond us and support a really awesome thing with the hospital foundation,” she noted.

The contest had eight teams of three people each, eating Tim Hortons Smile Cookies as fast as they could.

Mason-Bennett said eight dozen cookies were ordered and divided between the teams.

She added: “This activity is a fun way to increase awareness of the important work that the [Fort St. John] Hospital Foundation does in the community and connect some of our programming areas to the real world.”

The college, she said, has hosted such contests around Christmas and supports the Salvation Army and other community organizations with non-perishable food items.

When asked whether the college will have other contests like this, she said, “So yes, there are always kind of activities and things like this going on.”
