Hudson’s Hope High School Rodeo takes over Mother’s Day weekend

The two day Hudson’s Hope High School Rodeo is an event on the BC High School Rodeo Association’s calendar and takes place starting May 9th.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The region’s best teenage rodeo athletes will take over Hudson’s Hope for competition this weekend.

The Hudson’s Hope High School Rodeo takes place in the district starting Saturday, May 9th, sanctioned by the BC High School Rodeo Association (BCHSRA), according to a Facebook post on Sunday, May 3rd.

Cash prizes will be available, with performances earning points toward BCHSRA school rodeo standings; top point scorers will provincially qualify for the National finals, to be held in Alberta in August.

The two-day event will include bull riding, barrel racing and more, as well as high school-specific events such as breakaway roping.

It will also have vendors, including local eateries D&D diner and Coalbox Coffee. Giveaways, including a 50/50 draw, will also be present.

Because it is Mother’s Day, a free breakfast will be provided on Sunday, May 10th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. for rodeo entrants, donated by Hudson’s Hope Fire Rescue. The Sunday events will begin thereafter.

The Hudson’s Hope High School Rodeo 2026 begins on Saturday, May 9th at 11 a.m., at the Double H Saddle Club Rodeo grounds at 9505 Taylor Avenue in Hudson’s Hope.

Entry to the event is free for all attendees.
