According to Brent Morgan, president of the Fort St. John Firefighters’ Charitable Society, this year’s event included a donation to a local organization.

“We went off by starting the night [off] by giving $100,000 away to a Foundry initiative project happening in Fort St. John,” said Morgan.

According to Morgan, the $100,000 will go towards a mental health program in the area.

“It’s for the Foundry, it’s operated under the YMCA BC, and it’s in 20 BC communities,” said Morgan. [And] We’re bringing it to Fort St. John. It’s for youth mental health programs, so they have access to same-day doctors, counseling appointments and a safe place for them to hang out.”

Morgan said the $100,000 donation to Foundry is part of a five-year commitment.

Before getting their final bills for this year’s event, Morgan said the event raised almost $200,000.

Funds from the ball will go towards some of the organization’s initiatives, including its medical travel fund, Christmas draw, burn fund, and public swimming.

According to Morgan, an attendee from this year’s event auctioned off his cowboy hat for $4,000.

“I think it’s something he’s had for like 20 years,” Morgan said. “So to get an old cowboy to part with his hat for charity, it just shows you the kind of support and the people that we have in this community.”

Morgan said the community’s response is hard to describe.

“I don’t know if it’s something you can really describe in the moment, it’s mind-blowing the support we get,” Morgan said.

Tickets for this year’s charity ball sold out on April 2nd, 2026, a month before the event.
