FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The School District 60 band is seeking donations for an upcoming silent auction at the 2026 year-end spring concert.
On May 7th, 2026, the band will be performing its year-end spring concert at the North Peace Cultural Centre.
During the concert, attendees can bid in a silent auction.

Sabrina Brooks, School District 60 band coordinator, says the band is looking for a variety of donations.
“Anything of $20 value and up,” said Brooks. “Sometimes, bigger businesses will donate a patio set or something large. If it’s a coffee shop business, it’ll be like a gift certificate. Different businesses will do up a basket. We’ve had local artisans donate paintings or crocheted blankets…We’re not choosy, we’re trying to have a variety of items so people can shop and enjoy themselves while they listen to some good tunes.”
Brook said the proceeds from the auction will go towards paying for band activities, including two upcoming trips for the junior and high school band.
“This year, our high schoolers are going to Whistler for a BC level [competition]. Our junior band is going off to Niagara Falls for a national-level competition.”

“We want to be able to take our kids to all these great opportunities…The Grande Prairie Festival coming up is going to cost us about $4,000, because of the cost of travel. When we go off to Niagara Falls, that trip is $134,000.”
According to Brooks, the school district is hoping to raise $10,000 from the silent auction.
“If we can fundraise and raise the total cost, then it reduces the amount each family pays and it makes these opportunities accessible for more kids,” said Brooks.
Attendance at the year-end concert is free, but attendees are encouraged to donate.
Energeticcity.ca reached out to the SD60 band for more information on where people can donate items to the silent auction, but did not immediately hear back. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
