Today’s closure means the centre has not been open to the public since March 26th.

The health authority, in a written statement, previously told Energeticcity.ca the centre has been experiencing interruptions to its daytime and weekday emergency department services due to “staffing shortages.”

The centre is usually open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during normal working hours.

Residents in need of emergency care, outside of normal working hours and weekends, are urged to call 911 to connect to BC Emergency Health Services for transport to the nearest available hospital.

Energeticcity.ca has reached out to Northern Health for a comment but did not immediately hear back in time for publication. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
