Huskies goaltender takes home top NWJHL award for second year in a row
Fort St. John Huskies goaltender Evan Baker won the Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) goaltender of the year for the second time in a row for the 2025-26 season.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A Fort St. John Huskies goaltender has taken home a top honour from his league for the second consecutive season.
Evan Baker has won the Strike Group North West Junior Hockey League (NWJHL) goaltender of the year for the 2025-26 season, after taking the same award one year ago.
A statement from the club on Friday, February 20th said the award is unrelated to the NWJHL top goaltender, which was won by Cameron Brochu of the Sexsmith Vipers, which was based on a vote by league members. Â
In addition, a Facebook post by the Huskies said Baker is just the fourth goaltender in league history to win the award in back-to-back years.
Baker’s award is based on goals against average (GAA), which he led the league in with a GAA of 2.85 in 28 games for the Huskies, including one shutout.Â
His 2025-26 season also included an appearance in the NWJHL All-Star game in Fort St. John, as well as becoming the club’s starting goaltender following the trade of Ethan Fechter to the La Crete Lumber Barons.
Through two seasons with the Huskies, he has posted a record of 35 wins, against 12 losses and two overtime losses, with five shutouts.Â
