Snowfall warning issued for Pine Pass

According to Environment Canada’s snowfall warning, up to 15cm of snow is expected in the Pine Pass area on Highway 97 on Sunday, November 16th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — As much as 15 centimetres of snow is expected in the Pine Pass area tomorrow.

In a November 15th snowfall warning, Environment Canada said a frontal system will bring snow, heavy at times, beginning early on the morning of Sunday, November 16th, before easing late into the night.

As much as 15cm of snow is expected by Monday morning.

“Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow,” said Environment Canada. “Visibility will likely be reduced at times.”

The agency also warned weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are advised to turn on headlights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.

The ‘Shift Into Winter’ website by Road Safety at Work is also recommended for drivers who plan on driving in wintry conditions to take precautions, including proper use of winter tires and tire chains.
