HIGH PRAIRIE, AB. — The Fort St. John Senior Flyers battled throughout, but fell short in the quest to even their North Peace Hockey League (NPHL) record in High Prairie.

Despite holding leads early on and midway through the third period, the Flyers fell by a score of 7-6 to the High Prairie Regals, who picked up their first win of the season at the High Prairie Sports Palace.

The Flyers dressed just 13 skaters, one over the league rules for a minimum  –  including coach Reid Campbell – however, the Flyers opened the scoring on Zach Ryan’s first goal of the season.

They doubled their lead on Nolan Lagace’s first goal before the Regals erupted with three goals in the final 15 minutes of the opening 20 minutes – from goals by Al Anderson, Larry Yellowknee and Devon Quartly.

Owen Floriant tied the game early in the second for the Flyers, on assists by Aiden Craig-Steele and Campbell, until it was time for the Regal’s Cole Isaac to shine.

Isaac had a pair of shorthanded goals, and even though Jaden Loverin scored for the Flyers, the visitors trailed 5-4 after two periods.

Craig-Steele had two goals to open up the game’s final frame, to put Fort St. John ahead 6-5, before Isaac completed his hat trick, and Jonathan Belyan scored with just 13 seconds left, lifting the home team to the win.

Top performers for the Flyers included Craig-Steele, who had two goals and two assists for a four-point game. Others included Lagace, who had a goal and two assists, and Ryan and Floriant each had a goal and an assist.

The Flyers’ loss puts them with a record of one win and three losses on the young NPHL 2025-26 season.

They will try to get back in the win column on Saturday, November 15th at the North Peace Arena against the Falher Pirates.

Game time is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. More information is available at the team’s Facebook page.
