The Street Enforcement Team (SET) made the arrest at 11:45 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, October 29th.

Police allege the individual was in body armour and had possession of a loaded firearm upon his apprehension.

Following an inspection of a residence, police say they discovered further firearms and alleged evidence that recent shootings were a result of gang-related violence in the city.

Sgt. Ian Rissanen of Fort St. John RCMP said the arrest “may have prevented another shooting from happening” through the quick action and investigation displayed by the SET and the detachment’s serious crime and frontline units.

Police suspect all of the shootings were targeted, although RCMP officers did acknowledge the incidents have put the public at risk.

They are believed to be connected to a growing “gang conflict” within the Peace region.

Police say they continue to investigate despite the arrest, and would like to speak with anyone who can further their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8100.
