MOOSE JAW, SASK. — A Moose Jaw Warriors forward formerly from the Peace region has been named the player of the week in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

Ethan Semeniuk, a 20-year-old forward from Fort St. John, factored heavily in the Warriors opening WHL contests on Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th – a home-and-home series versus the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Semeniuk had a goal and an assist in the first leg, as the Warriors held off the Wheat Kings to win by a score of 6-4 on the road to start the 2025-26 season.

In the return engagement just one night later, Semeniuk helped with an assist on the game’s opening goal, along with a third-period goal which spurned a comeback as the Warriors took a goal-heavy contest by a score of 9-7 in the club’s home opener.

His performance on Saturday evening earned him the game’s second star, as the Warriors took an early lead in the WHL’s East Division.

A 6’1” forward, Semeniuk is in his third season with the Warriors after a stint with the Vancouver Giants.

He has 24 goals and 33 assists for 57 points in 105 regular-season games with the Warriors, and had a goal and six assists for seven points when the team captured the WHL championship in the 2023-24 season.

Semeniuk and the Warriors will next be in action on Saturday, September 27th against the Swift Current Broncos.
