DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Voters have a few days to help a Dawson Creek competitive dancer in her quest to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated.

Dawson Creek’s Addison Webb was one of four athletes from the Peace region involved in the 3Brand Youth Athlete of the Year online competition, where the grand prize is $25,000 in cash and the chance to be in an advertisement in the magazine.

The 12-year-old was the only one from the region to make the quarterfinals, and following a late surge, managed to make the semifinals.

Currently, the 2021 Dawson Creek Youth of the Year stands at 16th place in her semifinal group, with the top in each advancing to the finals.

Webb’s mother, Paige Healey, has shown the steps her daughter has made in furthering her campaign – including a Facebook page for her daughter’s candidacy and distributing flyers in Dawson Creek to garner votes.

“We appreciate your support more than words,” wrote Healey on Facebook. “Can you just imagine if Addison’s home town got behind her and even half the people in Dawson Creek placed a vote for her.”

The Youth Athlete of the Year competition benefits two charities: the V Foundation, which funds cancer research, and the Why Not You Foundation, which empowers impoverished youth through education, and was founded by New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, singer Ciara.

Voters have until Thursday, September 25th at 7 p.m. to vote online. To vote for Addison, see her Youth Athlete of the Year page here.
