Registration open for inaugural street hockey tournament to wrap up summer
Maverick’s Bar and Grill is to host an inaugural street hockey tournament on October 4th, 2025.

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — A Hudson’s Hope eatery is looking for hockey enthusiasts to drop the puck and face off with a street hockey tournament to celebrate the start of the season.
A popular pastime during warmer months in Canada, street hockey is a variation of the popular game of ice hockey, with training shoes replacing skates and asphalt replacing ice.
Maverick’s Bar and Grill will host a tournament in early October, and is looking for at least 10 teams to suit up and take part, according to bar manager Jacelynne Kortzman.

Depending on turnout, there will be divisions for youth, adult and costume recreational tournaments. The event will also include a beer garden and concession stands for spectators and attendees.
“We are a sports pub,” said Kortzman. “We show all of the hockey games, football, baseball, all that. We try to centre our environment around teams.
“We just kind of figured it would be a nice, fun way to end the summer and go into the hockey season.”
Registration began on August 25th and is available through September 25th. The cost to enter is $100 for teams of between four and six players.
