FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Student enrolment in School District 60 appears to be holding steady as the new school year gets underway.
According to district superintendent Stephen Petrucci, preliminary numbers suggest there are approximately 6,000 students enrolled across the district’s schools for the 2025-26 academic year.
While the figures are not yet finalized, Petrucci says the district expects to have a clearer picture in the coming weeks.

“It’s a bit early in terms of final numbers, but it looks like enrolment is stable at approximately 6,000 students,” Petrucci told Energeticcity.ca.
“We will know more in the next two weeks in terms of enrolment figures that we will be submitting to the Ministry of Education [and Child Care].”
An official update on enrolment will be presented at the next district board meeting, scheduled for September 22nd.
School District 60 operates schools in Fort St. John and its surrounding communities, serving students from kindergarten to Grade 12.
