Did you see anything?: Police hunt for witnesses after man hospitalized with ‘serious injuries’

Fort St. John RCMP officers are asking anyone who saw what happened near the 99th Avenue and 98th Street intersection at 2:40 p.m. on September 1st to come forward.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Police officers are on the hunt for witnesses or dashcam footage of a reported assault in Fort St. John.

The city’s RCMP detachment released an appeal on September 3rd asking anyone who saw what happened near the 99th Avenue and 98th Street intersection at 2:40 p.m. on September 1st to come forward. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with “obvious facial injuries.”

He was taken to the Fort St. John Hospital with “serious injuries,” the appeal said.

“Because this incident occurred in broad daylight, the Fort St John RCMP is requesting that if there were any passersby in the area at the time, who may be able to provide a statement about what they heard or saw happen, to call the RCMP,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, media relations officer for the Fort St John RCMP.

“Also, if there were any drivers in the area who may be able to provide dashcam footage of the area around that time, that could prove to be incredibly valuable.”
