PRRD receives $40k UBCM grant for emergency preparedness plan
The Peace River Regional District has been given $40,000 in funding for its new emergency preparedness plan from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The regional district has been given a $40,000 grant by the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) for its efforts to protect its community against emergency situations.
On August 14th, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD)’s board of directors reviewed a letter from UBCM about grant funding.
The letter discussed the PRRD’s Regional District New Evacuation Route Plan and Updated Public Notification Plan, and stated the PRRD would receive $40,000 in grant funding from UBCM to create it.
The funding comes from UBCM’s Community Emergency Preparedness Fund, which is financed by the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
According to the letter, UBCM will issue the grant once the notification plan is complete, and a final report and financial summary has been submitted.
No information is available at this time regarding the timeline of the project, however UBCM specified the project must be completed “within one year,” with the specific date of June 5th, 2026.
