The Fort St. John Hospital is experiencing higher than normal wait times.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Residents in Fort St. John and area are advised of potential longer-than-usual wait times at the Fort St. John Hospital.
Northern Health said the Fort St. John Hospital is experiencing higher-than-usual patient volume, which could result in longer wait times in various departments, including the emergency department.
Residents with “less urgent” care needs are asked to visit their primary care provider or family physician’s office during normal business hours to help reduce strain on emergency and acute care.
Those without a family doctor or nurse practitioner can call the Northern Health Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily to book an appointment.
A Northern Health Virtual Clinic nurse can help those connected with a family doctor or nurse practitioner coordinate care with their family provider or other community resources.
Residents in northern B.C. can also book an appointment with a pharmacist for 21 minor ailments and prescription contraceptives.
Patients unsure whether a medical condition warrants a visit to the emergency room can visit the HealthLink BC website or call 811.
