FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Provincial Courts from July 28th to August 1st.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 28th
Frankie Robert Leland (born 1983):

Leland was found guilty of breaching a probation order for an incident in Fort St. John on October 8th, 2024. Leland was sentenced to jail time served.
Devin Thomas Lloyd (born 1972):
Lloyd was found guilty of motor vehicle theft, flight from police and criminal harassment for incidents in Fort St. John and Summerland that took place between December 2024 and March 2025.
Lloyd was sentenced to jail time served, and received three three-year probation orders, a two-year driving prohibition, a ten-year firearm prohibition and was ordered to pay $200 in victim surcharges, which go towards helping the victims of a crime.
Latest Stories
Lloyd was also ordered to report for DNA sample collection.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 29th
Kayla Mae Gonwick (born 1994):
Gonwick was issued a $100 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Hudson’s Hope on December 6th, 2023. If Gonwick fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $100.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, July 29th
Vincent Casey Calahaison (born 1965):
Calahaison was found guilty of breaching a probation order for an incident in Dawson Creek on August 5th, 2024. Calahaison was sentenced to jail time served.
Jennifer O’Neil Cardinal (born 1986):
Cardinal was found guilty of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breaching a release order for incidents in Dawson Creek on August 24th, 2022.
In addition to jail time served, Cardinal was issued a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, as well as a 12-month probation order.
Alaric Jaimi Micheal Hills (born 1980):
Hills was found guilty of possession for the purpose of trafficking for an incident in Moberly Lake on April 8th, 2023.
Hills was issued a 12-month conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest.’
Hills also received a 12-month probation order and 10-year firearm prohibition.
Justin David Sinclair (born 1996):
Sinclair was found guilty of driving without reasonable consideration for an incident in Dawson Creek on September 16th, 2023. Sinclair was fined $100, issued a $15 victim surcharge and a one-year driving prohibition.
Madeline Whyte (born 2000):
Whyte was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence for an incident in Dawson Creek on November 10th, 2024. Whyte was issued 14 days of jail time, a $500 fine and a $70 victim surcharge.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, July 30th
Bryce Shane Hart (born 1997):
Hart was found guilty of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose for an incident in Dawson Creek on February 9th, 2025. Hart was issued a suspended sentence, 12 months of probation and ordered to report for forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime.
Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, July 31st
Donald Eric Apsassin (born 1976):
Apsassin was found guilty of assault, breaching a release order, and two counts each of breaching a probation order and breaching an undertaking, for incidents in Fort St. John and the Blueberry River Indigenous Reserve.
Apsassin was sentenced to a total of 23 days in jail on top of time served. Apsassin was also issued two 14-month probation orders.
Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, August 1st
Joshua Peter Janssen (born 1999):
Janssen was found guilty of mischief and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm for incidents in Dawson Creek in July 2024 and February 2025. Janssen was issued two 45-day conditional sentences and an 18-month probation order.
