FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Moose FM’s radio-thon raised more than $70,000 for a non-profit Fort St. John seniors housing organization.

The Kitchen for Care Radio-thon, which was presented by Remax, was to help the North Peace Seniors Housing Society (NPSHS) renovate its kitchen.

“This radiothon wasn’t just about upgrades or dollars, it was about honouring our seniors — the very people who built the foundations we stand on today,” said Chris Walker, program director at Moose FM.

“From every donation to every shared story, you’ve helped ensure our elders continue to receive warm meals, dignity and a sense of belonging.

“On behalf of all of us at Moose FM, thank you for showing up, showing heart and showing what community really means.”

Hundreds of generous people in Fort St. John came together to raise $70,336.35 for the cause, including two significant donations: $50,000 from Darwin and Monica Pimm and $10,000 from AltaGas.

The kitchen feeds dozens of seniors in Fort St. John every day at its complex, which features 144 self-contained units offering a mix of apartments for seniors to either be fully independent or receive some daily meals.

The society has helped older people in Fort St. John live independently since 1966.

Moose FM is also owned by Energeticcity.ca’s parent, Moose Media.
