Hearings re-scheduled for man charged with Dawson Creek shooting

A man accused of murder in Dawson Creek has had his bail hearing and trial scheduling dates separated in a new postponement.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A man accused of murder in Dawson Creek has had his bail hearing and trial scheduling dates separated in a new postponement.

Nolan Schmidt faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent following his arrest in January after a shooting in the city.

The shooting, which took place at a pair of downtown properties on January 19th, left one person dead and another injured.

On March 18th, Schmidt was ordered to stand trial for the charges. 

The weeks since then have seen several court dates arranged to schedule the trial, all of which have been postponed.

According to a representative from the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS), Schmidt now has a hearing to fix a trial date scheduled for Monday, July 14th.

In previous correspondence, BCPS also confirmed to Energeticcity.ca that Schmidt would have a bail hearing. 

The service’s latest update says that bail hearing is currently scheduled for August 13th.
