Prescribed burn planned near Highway 29

MOBERLY LAKE, B.C. — The B.C. Wildfire Service will be conducting a prescribed burn in partnership with the Moberly Lake Fire Department. 

The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a prescribed burn along Highway 29 as early as May 4th. 

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the goal of the burn will be to reduce wildfire risk in the area while also conducting cross-training with the Moberly Lake Fire Department.

Depending on conditions, the burn may continue throughout May. 

The BC Wildfire Service said the project has been carefully planned and will proceed only at the right time and under the right conditions to maintain community and staff safety. 

Smoke from the burn may be visible from Saulteau First Nations, Moberly Lake and those traveling along Highway 29.
