Several wildfires near Fort Nelson no longer ‘out of control’
Several wildfires in the Fort Nelson region are no longer expected to continue expanding.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Several wildfires in the Fort Nelson region are no longer expected to continue expanding.
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) updated its designations for five fires in the Fort Nelson zone on Wednesday, July 2nd, marking them all as no longer being ‘out of control.’
Four of the fires – located in the Kotcho Creek, Hay River, Sikanni Old Growth Forest and Stetlandia Creek regions – are now listed as ‘being held.’

Meanwhile, the last fire, located near the Kattaleen River, is now listed as ‘under control.’
‘Out of control’ fires are expected to continue expanding beyond their current perimeters. Both ‘being held’ and ‘under control’ mean the fires are expected to stay within their current boundaries.
No evacuation alerts or orders have been issued as a result of any of these five fires. Energeticcity.ca will share more information on these blazes as it becomes available.
