LNG Canada set to export first liquefied natural gas product from Kitimat
LNG Canada is set to export its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Kitimat facility, according to a Reuters source.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — LNG Canada is set to export its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Kitimat facility, according to a Reuters source.
The Reuters source said on June 22nd that the product was processed at LNG Canada’s new facility in Kitimat and will be exported mainly to Asia this year.
The source goes on to say the first LNG export shipment is expected to be loaded by mid-2025.

It is the first large-scale North American LNG facility with direct access to the Pacific coast, which can significantly reduce sail time to Asian markets compared to U.S. Gulf coast facilities.
The facility is located in the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, which is in partnership with Cedar LNG and Pembina Corporation.
LNG Canada hit a major milestone in April when its first liquefied natural gas shipment was delivered to the Kitimat facility.
In June 2024, Cedar LNG finalized an investment of $4 billion into the Kitimat LNG project.

Reuters’ source added that the project’s first phase is expected to reach 14 million metric tonnes per year (mtpa) capacity in 2026.
