Chetwynd hospital emergency department closed for 12 hours

Northern Health has announced Chetwynd General Hospital will be going on diversion for 12 hours on May 27th.

CHETWYND, B.C. — Chetwynd General Hospital’s emergency department services are to be unavailable for 12 hours.

On Tuesday, May 27th, Northern Health announced on Facebook that the hospital’s emergency department will be diverted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

The authority said the diversion is due to staffing challenges.

People needing life-threatening emergency care should call 911 for transportation to the nearest healthcare facility. 

Anyone who doesn’t have a family doctor can contact the NH Virtual Primary and Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811.

Energeticcity.ca reported Northern Health facilities in Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge were closed for 76 hours in April.

This is the hospital’s first diversion in May.
