During the May 26th regular meeting, Fort St. John city council reviewed the local RCMP detachment’s monthly update for April 2025.

Break and enter incidents to businesses went down by 50 per cent from eight reports to four, and only one break and enter to residence report was filed compared to four in March.

“A trend noted from the break-ins and the theft from vehicles is that hand tools are specifically being targeted in a majority of reports,” Moffat stated in the written report.

Moffat went on to say the special enforcement unit was engaged and investigating the trend.

He also praised local officers for their actions throughout the month, specifically noting an incident where a vehicle was reportedly stolen by armed suspects.

The event concluded with five people arrested and the vehicle recovered, and Moffat stated the matter was now going through the court system.
