A third report was received at 6:05 p.m. that same day at a residence on 269th Road, near 240th Road.

Officers said all crime scenes were attended and secured. Police also conducted neighbourhood enquiries, obtained statements and searched the surrounding areas.

“That was a busy day with multiple reports of shots fired and the detachment response was fantastic with public safety being paramount,” said Sergeant Ian Rissanen of the Fort St. John RCMP.

All three of the shootings are believed to be connected to the Fort St John drug trade.

Police obtained a search warrant for the 269th Road residence, and discovered evidence they say links the incident that took place there to the first shooting.

Kelly Shular, the property representative for the residence, was arrested on May 12th in an alleged relation to the first shooting.

“Several charges have been approved against Shular, including break and enter, use of a firearm in commission of an offence, possession of a firearm contrary to order, careless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,” said the detachment.

Shular will remain in custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 4th.

“All members of the Fort St. John RCMP, including our specialized investigative units, continue to strive to ensure public safety by targeting the illicit drug trade,” Rissanen concluded.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Fort St. John detachment at 250-787-8100.
