A Facebook group, called “Help for the Veronica Apartment Fire Victims,” has been created by Jeanette Johnston, a local volunteer and the owner of Aniela’s Kitchen, to help coordinate aid for residents.
“As active volunteers in our community, my husband and I donate to the community wherever and whenever we can lend a hand, to try to help out those in need,” Johnston said in a post to the group.
“After discussing it, we decided that this situation with these tenants [of Veronica Apartments] was something that we felt we could help out with.”
Johnston is taking donation requests and coordinating efforts alongside Erica O’Brien, the general manager at Aniela’s Kitchen, and Kristin Buckley, a teacher and former Veronica Apartments resident.
