Albornoz says it is unfortunate this incident occurred one minute before International Women’s Day on the 8th.
“It was just at the moment when the women’s day started, so it has a lot of meaning to us,” Albornoz explains.
“I don’t know if it’s related or not, but that coincidence is heartbreaking.”

She also notes the sign is being repaired and that it may affect the society’s budget.
“I don’t know how long it’s going to take, but anytime we have to spend money fixing something, it’s less money for our programs and for our clients,” says Albornoz.
On Friday, March 14th, the society announced on Facebook that the sign outside its building has been restored and thanked Complete Carpentry Services Ltd. for their quick work.
