FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fort St. John’s 2025 Canada Day Parade is at risk of losing one of its key contributors if the local classic car club does not find new leadership.

The Fort St. John Classic Cruisers Club desperately needs a new president after its acting president, Cameron Alexander, resigned last month to pursue personal interests.

Alexander said the club is also in need of a secretary and treasurer.

In an attempt to find a new president and fill any other vacant positions, the club is hosting a public general meeting at 6 p.m. on February 11th at the Minute Muffler and Brake repair shop.

Brian Fietz-Strelaev, a club member and owner of the repair shop, says he was sad to hear of Alexander’s resignation and that finding a new president is crucial.

“If nobody steps into his position, it’s gonna be tough to put the show on this year,” said Strelaev.

Strelaev says the club plays an important role in Fort St. John’s community by gathering everybody who enjoys “car culture”.

“It’s an event that everybody enjoys. It has, over the last few years, become part of the July 1st activities here in town, to the point where people expect it,” said Strelaev.

He says the Fort St. John Classic Cruisers Club, founded in the 1980s, has been an important contributor to the parade for three years.

The potential new president would be responsible for arranging the club’s events, getting sponsors and more.

Anyone who is interested in the position is encouraged to attend the meeting. Find out more here.
