Amber Alert for six-year-old Alberta boy expands to all of B.C., most of N.W.T.

GRANDE PRAIRIE — RCMP say the search for an Alberta boy has been expanded to all of B.C. and into much of the Northwest Territories or the Yukon.

Mounties near the Alberta-B.C. boundary issued an Amber Alert late Wednesday for six-year-old Lanakai Morrison.

He is described as white, and having a slight build, light brown hair and brown eyes.

RCMP say the boy was taken on Tuesday from the hamlet of Valhalla Centre, roughly 63 kilometres northwest of Grande Prairie, Alta.

Police say Lanakai was last seen in Fort St. John, B.C., about 160 kilometres northwest of Valhalla Centre, at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the boy may be with his mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, and her 35-year-old partner, Daniel Ludwig.

RCMP say another child, four-year-old Karl Morrison, may also be travelling with them.

Investigators were initially looking for a black 2015 Toyota Tundra, but it was found by officers.

RCMP say it is believed the couple changed vehicles and are now driving a 2006 red Ford F350, with Alberta licence place CXW8820.

The police service says not to approach the suspects or vehicle and to call 911 with any information.
