FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Local police officers say firearms and evidence of drug trafficking were seized from an alleged “dial-a-dope” operation in Fort St. John recently.

The city’s RCMP detachment says it executed a search warrant on the 8900 block of 77th Street on Friday, January 17th.

The Street Enforcement Team initiated this investigation after observing traffic allegedly “consistent with drug trafficking, often known as a dial-a-dope operation, linked to the residence”, a press release from the detachment reads.

“Given the high-risk nature of the investigation, the RCMP Emergency Response Team was requested to assist with executing the search warrant.”

Residents in the area took notice of the Emergency Response Team’s presence, with some taking to social media with posts about an “armoured vehicle” moving through the city alongside RCMP cruisers.

In addition to the firearms and evidence seized, one person was reportedly arrested.

It is a “continuation of the team’s proactive effort to suppress” alleged drug trafficking in town, said Corporal Connor Watson of the Fort St. John Street Enforcement Team.

“The use of the Emergency Response Team ensured a safe execution of the search warrant for our officers as well as the public and our suspect.”

The person has reportedly since been released from police custody, pending further investigation. The detachment is reportedly seeking drug trafficking and firearm charges.
