FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — With the holidays over, Fort St. John residents can get rid of their Christmas trees for free for the next few days.

Residents can bring their trees to the space between the Parkour area and the Museum in Centennial Park until January 9th, 2025.

Meanwhile, for residents living elsewhere, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is accepting natural Christmas trees at its three regional landfills or tier 1 transfer stations.

Trees brought to the PRRD for disposal will be chipped down and mixed with soil.

The district also urges residents to shred down their trees, so the mulch can be used for backyard composting.

Artificial trees can also be donated to the Salvation Army or other local thrift stores.

More information on landfills or transfer station locations can be found on the PRRD’s website.
