Snowfall warning issued for South Peace with “10 to 15 centimetres” in forecast

Residents of Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge are being warned to expect 10 to 15 centimetres of snowfall going into the weekend.

CHETWYND, B.C. — Residents of Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge are being warned to expect 10 to 15 centimetres of snowfall going into the weekend.

A snowfall warning was issued by Environment Canada for the South Peace region on Thursday, November 28th.

The snowfall is expected to begin in Tumbler Ridge and near Highway 52, with roughly 10 centimetres of snow expected to fall over the course of Thursday afternoon.

Afterwards, 10 to 15 centimetres will fall beginning Thursday evening over Chetwynd and nearby stretches of Highways 29, 52 and 97. 

That snowfall is expected to ease sometime Friday afternoon.

Residents are urged to drive safely through the region and plan for traffic delays, as the snowfall could lead to decreased visibility and poor road conditions.

A similar snowfall warning is also in effect for the nearby “Pine Pass” portion of Highway 97.
