FORT NELSON, B.C. — The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) voted in favour of a report proposing to establish a Community FireSmart and Wildfire Resiliency committee focused on municipal initiatives.
The report proposes a select committee to strengthen wildfire preparedness and coordinated efforts.
The proposed committee would engage the community, provide recommendations to council on FireSmart initiatives, and support wildfire risk reduction activities.
The report follows up on a discussion from a committee of the whole meeting on October 28th.
Next steps in the proposal include city staff initiating an Expression of Interest to identify committee members.
Council plans to have the committee in place before Christmas.
