FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Rideshare service Uber has announced it will be expanding its services across B.C. starting in early 2025.

Uber was launched in the Greater Vancouver area in 2020, and with this upcoming expansion, the service is seeking drivers from across the province.

The company is offering a $500 incentive for eligible drivers who sign up in British Columbia and complete 10 trips within the first four weeks of service expansion.

“We’re looking for drivers from Nanaimo to Fort St. John and everywhere in between,” Michael van Hemmen, General Manager of Mobility for Uber Canada, said in a November 15th press release.

According to Uber, 81 per cent of Canadian riders state safety as one of their reasons for choosing to ride with Uber, and 77 per cent use the rideshare app because it helps reduce impaired driving.

Since 2020, the company has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada, Hope Air, and the BC Restaurant Foodservice Association.
