FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce has given Northern Rockies Fire Rescue a Public Service Award for their contributions to community safety throughout the year.

“Although they couldn’t be there to accept it, they had to rush off to respond to a call because that’s just who they are, they are truly grateful for the recognition,” a Facebook post by Northern Rockies Regional Municipality stated on October 26th.

The municipality explained the award is especially meaningful in light of the challenges the region has faced this past year, from wildfires to the May evacuation to arson incidents.
